Sorely Tempted by Yahoo! Music Unlimited

May 20th, 2005
Yahoo! Music Unlimited

So Yahoo! is after me again.  They have recently announced their Music Unlimited service.

For a mere $60 a year I can have all the downloadable music I want.
Move it to an approved MP3 player and have access to listen to my
collection from any computer.  It also comes with  access to
all of their Launchcast stuff in its premium flavor.

*sigh*  Sounds like I need to be asking for a new MP3 player for Chirstmas or a wedding gift.

I really like Yahoo! alot although they are losing ground in the email game to Google’s gmail.  I’ve never had any trouble with their services so I am hoping the music thing works out well.

Good one liner in a song this morning

May 20th, 2005

So I flipped on VH1 this morning to hear their new up and coming
young female.  Can’t remember her name but she is better than most
of the people they splash around.

Anyway, one line jumped out.  Its a trite little thing but I liked the imagery…

Life is like an hourglass glued to the table

Don’t know why but that really drives the point home for me. Live it today, cause you won’t get it back.

The site theme

May 20th, 2005

I’m changing the site theme back to the Drupal default until I get a
better handle on how to theme things with CSS here.  The
aggregator is driving me crazy in it’s plain ole unspectacular styling.

The great Thunderbird Experiment

May 20th, 2005
Thunderbird

So I am trying to broaden my horizons and  get rid of some Microsoft nonsense on my computer.  Firefox is now an indispensible replacement for IE so I thought I would try to get rid of Outlook Express *shudder* as well.

Enter Thunderbird from Mozilla

I only got to play with it for a little bit last night
but so far I am very impressed.  It already handles my multiple
pop3 accounts in a better format than OE did.  And the
installation wizard included an import from OE of all the account
settings. I am looking forward to learning more about it.  Maybe
I’ll actually start checking my pop accounts more often.

I need an R2 unit in the house.

My Own R2D2?

So it seems that the fine folks at the University of Pisa and MediaLab have taken
it upon themselves to celebrate the Star Wars saga by creating their
own R2 unit
And folks, its pretty slick looking.  Now I
need to get my hands on one and ad the coveted vacuum and dusting mod.
At only $70k or so for the prototype, I think we should expect these to
be commercially available for a couple grand before my kids are out of
college.

Drupal is cool

May 19th, 2005

So I am playing around with Drupal more and getting a better feel
for how things work.  Awesome!  The news aggregator in
particular is wonderful. Once I get some better styling into things I
think I will be very happy.

I do so love open source.

Got Logos?

May 18th, 2005

GotLogos.com

So in an attempt to get my most recent domain purchase jumpstarted I ordered a logo from gotlogos.com
$25  and you accept what they make.  Some very quality work
in their galleries.  I am already thinking  of other ways to
use their services.

Welcome to the new blog

May 18th, 2005

Sure its happened before.  But I am once again rebuilding Green Scissors from scratch.  This time with the help of Drupal.
Bear with us as we get things in good working order and add a bit more
flair in the design. Soon there shall be more pictures, blog entries,
RSS feeds and music files than you can shake a stick at.

Time for a change

May 5th, 2005

So after much mucking about and tinkering. I have decided to convert the site to drupal. It will take a little while (a week or so) to get it looking the way I want. And then there shall be a grand unveiling :)
