Slowly but surely the ideas of intelligent, moderate people will prevail. If things continue there will be a time in the next generation or two where the U.S. will be viewed as the backward stepchild of the industrialized world. But at least we’ll still be able to carry guns and Humvees to work.

In a generation or two?
More like another few DAYS. Our education system sucks, we’re one of a rather small number of countries that allows the death penalty, we are completely backward when it comes to providing health care, and we do our best to avoid any meaningful environmental standards. But, as you say, we can carry guns and drive Humvees.
How does the Canadian national anthem go again? They’ve got cable up there so I could still follow the Chiefs. Hell, what exactly am I doing here?
